Safety is always a top priority. In the mountains every tourer is responsible both for themselves and the whole group. A mobile phone with fully charged battery is a standard item of equipment. Responsible tourers also carry complete avalanche equipment (avalanche rescue beacon, probe and shovel). Ideally they also carry an airbag backpack, which keeps the tourer on the surface in the case of an avalanche.
For safety reasons, we recommend the beginners and newcomers to the region to take a certified mountain guide. Since the winter in the mountains has its perils, a local mountain guide is the best way to enjoy a tour with many happy moments and return safely. Guided ski tours are offered by the ski school in Thiersee. The mountain and ski guides of the Tyrolean mountaineering guide association are also responsible for the district of Kufstein.
