Return to the origins. Enjoy the forest, the water, the meadows and immerse yourself in the common history. The Ursprungweg, which is just under 52 kilometers long, leads from the Bavarian Wörnsmühl near Fischbachau via Bayrischzell and the Ursprungpass to the Tyrolean Riedenberg and on to Thiersee.
The family-friendly long-distance trail between Bavaria and Tyrol can be completed as a hike lasting several days or in individual sections.
Section Drachenthal: Wörnsmühl - Fischbachau, 7.7 km, approx. 2:20 hrs.
Along the way, beautiful watering places and sunny meadows invite you to linger. Along quiet forest paths you pass sawmills and a disused flour mill. Arrived at the sports field in Fischbachau, the water experience awaits you and you also learn more about Europe's largest rodent, the beaver.
Section Leitzachtal: Fischbachau - Bayrischzell, 10 km, approx. 3:00 h
With the Wendelstein always in view, you walk across lush meadows and learn more about the origin of the river that has shaped this landscape from the beginning. When you reach Bayrischzell, information about traditional costumes and traditions, mountain pastures, alpine horns and much more awaits you.
Section Ursprungpass: Bayrischzell - Landl, 11,1 km, ca. 5:00 h
Pass the Schreyerbach Kneipp facility and follow a slightly elevated forest path to the forestry and hunting experience. On the way there, you will learn more about the eventful past of the Ursprungpass. On the Austrian side, stories about the Passion Play in Thiersee await you.
Etappe Riedenberg: Landl - Thiersee, 22 km, ca. 7:00 h
This demanding stage takes about seven hours. The trail leads over slightly ascending forest roads to an altitude of almost 1000 metres. Once you have reached the top, the Riedenberg high moor awaits you. You can continue through the Glemmbachklamm gorge or via the forest road to Hinterthiersee. The final destination Vorderthiersee is reached via a forest path.
