Tyrolean Haflinger stallion selection
The future of Haflingers
Traditionally, every year in February, at the world Haflinger centre, the Ebbs stud farm, the promising three-year-old young stallions are chosen for breeding by the "Haflinger Pferdezuchtverbandes Tirol" (Haflinger Horse Breeders Association Tyrol). A precise observation of the physique. Posture. Step. Trot. Ground coverage and momentum. A rigorous selection and choice of breeding stallions is a guarantee for sustainable progress in the breeding of Tyrolean Haflingers.
Perfect preparation
Before a young Tyrolean Haflinger can take part in the association's selection he must first have passed a number of preliminary stages. Preparation of the young animals is extensive. All young stallions are trained and conditioned by the stud farm team. Broken in. Trained. Harnessed to a buggy. The young stallions also undergo a reproductivity assessment that determines whether they are suitable for live cover.
From 9:30 am the young stallions are presented to the committee.
