A Spanish village

Music theatre
Text and direction: Mili Poblete

In the turmoil of the Spanish Civil War, the refined poet Pablo seeks refuge in a small village together with his wife Sara and his sister Alba. The initial scepticism of the people living there soon seems to be overcome; they welcome the strangers into their egalitarian community with curiosity and hospitality. But then the prophecy of a seer casts a gloomy shadow over the supposed idyll - while only good things can be expected from Alba, Sara will bring destruction to the village, according to the prophecy. At first, the woman's words are not given much weight - but when landowner Pedro develops strong feelings for Alba and Sara begins to weave her dark web of intrigue and greed, the villagers find themselves caught up in a disastrous maelstrom of passion and hunger for power, idealism and ideology.

Following her successful directorial debut El Dante, Kufstein-based singer, director and actress Mili Poblete is now bringing her second play to the stage. A Spanish Village promises musical highlights, language steeped in poetry and a story that does not shy away from exploring the deepest abysses and most honest hopes of human existence.
