Hi5 – Minimal Jazz Chamber Music (A) + Litzkov & Friends (A)

KlangFarben Kufstein proudly presents as part of the Week of Stage Art: HI5 - Minimal Jazz Chamber Music The award-winning Tyrolean formation presents its new album. Drums, guitar, vibraphone and bass are all HI5 needs to break down genre boundaries casually, playfully and creatively. A "jazz band" that spends a lot of time in the rehearsal room to work out their sophisticated arrangements, only to surprise at live concerts by playing freely time and again and maintaining a lightness that reveals nothing of the hard work behind it: you don't hear something like this every day. Listening here is both a pleasure and an adventure. The band itself describes its music as "minimal jazz chamber music", opening up a whole wealth of playful and intellectual possibilities. Using the means and possibilities of jazz to give the music the necessary freedom to develop material in a free-spirited way and, if necessary, to let it be and meander, an extraordinary conceptual bridge to "chamber music" is created. This lays a track towards intricacy, compositional sophistication and complexity. This music is not really minimal, but it insists, persists and allows repetition at some points. HI5's music is not sprawling, but logical and consistent in its development and structure - full of successful playing and thinking. This singular combination of these otherwise usually mutually repulsive poles has caused storms of enthusiasm, which have been accompanied by prizes such as the Joe Zawinul Prize 2012, 1st place at the Bucharest International Jazz Competition 2013 and the Jimmy Woode European Jazz Award 2013. Chris Norz Drums / Philipp Ossanna Guitar / Matthias Legner Vibraphone / Clemens Rofner Bass Litzkov & Friends Litzko Emmerich: Composer, Songwriter, Arranger, Guitar, Vocal, Percussion Kröll Hans-Peter: Drums, Percussion Daxer Hannes: Bass Weber Herbert: Guitar, Vocal, Percussion Weiss Reinhold: Trombone Pitterl Florian: Sax Pitterl Peter: Trumpet Rusch Peter: Hammond The sound of Litzkov and friends is a mix of funk, jazz rock and Latin rhythms. In addition to their own compositions, cover songs are rearranged and reinterpreted.
