After holding the ETU European medium distance championships last year, the organiser is now inviting athletes from around the world to the picturesque Kaiserwinkl area for the eighth time, to take part in the Challenge Walchsee-Kaiserwinkl. As well as the top-class field of professionals, there are more than 1500 age group athletes starting in the crystal-clear Walchsee. An exciting race for pros and age group athletes is guaranteed!

The route

Walchsee is one of the clearest lakes in Europe, with drinking water quality, and is the first highlight of an unforgettable race day. For our international participants the swimming will be a special treat, before they cycle through the beautiful Kaiserwinkl area. The route impresses with challenging ascents, speedy descents, and impressive panoramas. As well as this, the athletes have the opportunity to marvel at the impressive Kaiser Mountains with all their facets. The final half marathon follows four varied circuits around Walchsee, and guarantees streets filled with spectators and a thrilling atmosphere.

The race formats

Challenge Walchsee-Kaiserwinkl
The classic medium distance routes are the centrepiece of the three-day race week. Athletes in all performance and age classes compete over the distance 1.9 km/90 km/21 km. Some are out to achieve a personal best time, others are just happy to participate. At the end of the day all finishers at Walchsee are champions.

Junior-Challenge Walchsee-Kaiserwinkl
In accordance with the motto of the global Challenge race series - "Challenge for all" - the junior Challenge traditionally takes place on Saturday. The race, which is equally popular with participants, spectators, children and parents, is now an integral part of the programme. The competition is a classic Aquathlon, with swimming and running. There are various distances for the various age groups, though the focus is always on fun.

The weekend surrounding the Challenge Walchsee-Kaiserwinkl is a celebration for people of all ages who enjoy being sporty and active.
