The Rare Species Zoo in Ebbs is the place to be for those who love animals and nature. In front of the fantastic mountain panorama of the Zahmen Kaiser lots of varied animal species and a well-kept park, which has colourful blossoming flowers, awaits. Well-placed benches in quiet surroundings invite you to rest for a while and breathe in the mountain and forest air, as you listen to the sounds of the exotic animals.
More than 400 animals, from 80 species live here. The Rare Species Zoo in Ebbs has for many years been a well attended excursion destination, since it is relaxing and also educational. There are bird species here which are rarely seen, even in the larger zoos. By breeding species which are threatened with extinction, this private zoo also contributes to species conservation, science and the protection of nature.
The Rare Species Zoo in Ebbs has long been an insider tip amongst ornithologists and bird lovers.
The Barbary ape family is especially popular, a bold and funny bunch, who live in their own large enclosure. New in the zoo are the ten coatis which come from South America. These bright animals attract lots of visitors thanks to all their hustle-and-bustle, and their graceful appearance. As exceptionally good climbers, no tree is too tall for them.
For children there are often animals which they know about, and lots of interesting ones which are more rare and endangered. In the children’s farmyard they get to experience a motley mix of hens, sheep, pigs, doves, geese and other familiar animals, up close. They can also feed the animals here. And on the playground right inside the zoo children can play completely at ease, and be active.
Ebbs Rare Species Zoo is a business which is privately run, with a lot of heart and soul, and visitors can sense the family atmosphere in this charming place.
