The Haflinger and carriage museum is a key attraction, with a collection of carriages and sleds which are over 100 years old, and an exhibit about the history of Haflinger horses.
The museum has a beautiful collection of carriages and sleds designed for Haflinger horses, many of which are more than 100 years old – and most are still fit to drive. A large exhibition area has been granted to agricultural machinery from the past, and saddles, ploughs, harrows, carts, and wooden carriages used with horses can be viewed. The history of the Haflinger breed, with the first breeding records from 1920 and proof of pedigree from the various decades have also been documented.
There are also stall certificates, honorary certificates and breed prizes, old pictorial documents and documentation about world expositions and international shows to look at. In addition there are lots of prizes, cups and mementos from Haflinger sports tournaments. The 200 year old original saddle from the film "Das letzte Tal", which was filmed in Tirol, is a special feature.

Josef Madersperger – the sewing machine museum in Kufstein
A museum dedicated to the inventor of the sewing machine, Josef Georg Madersperger (born 1786 in Kufstein, died 1850 in Vienna). The life and works of J. Madersperger is presented in an audiovisual show.
The lot of the inventor and innovation
Only the inventor himself was aware of the worth of his machine. No-one bought any machines from him. So Josef Madersperger presented the first functional sewing machine as a gift to the ‘Polytechnischen Institut’ in Vienna. Today his invention is indispensable and the Kufstein people have dedicated a museum to the inventor and his machine. Come and take look – and get a fascinating insight into the life of the inventor.
The Madersperger Museum is on Kinkstraße and is open from Monday-Saturday daily from 10.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m., Sunday closed. Entry: voluntary donation

Schwoich is a cradle of Austrian cement production -
This accounts for a limekiln being incorporated in the coat of arms for the district of Schwoich
At the entrance to the town of Schwoich there are restored limekilns in the so-called "Russia", which are reminiscent of the establishment of the cement work by Franz Kink, who was born in Bozen. In 1842 Kink procured 1400 kg cement without the use of trass cement, pozzolana and the like, and thus found the same product as James Parker had found 40 years previous in England, which had been called "Roman cement". In 1987/88 the district of Schwoich along with the company Perlmoser AG and other benefactors restored two kilns. Work was then continued, and the area around the old ovens was paved and made more accessible for visitors.

The film museum in the Passion Playhouse in Thiersee - the former film studio on the lake
Film summer 2010 is much influenced by the film "Blaubart" and the anniversary of the death of Hans Albers
Did you know that there was a film studio in Thiersee after the 2nd World War?
On 14th August 1947 the first Austrian post-war film celebrated its fabulous world premiere in Vienna - "Die Wintermelodie". It was made in Thiersee.
Until 1952 no less than 18 films followed, made by international production companies from Austria, Germany, France, England and Switzerland, and these were all produced in the film studio in Thiersee.
Among them were very well known films such as "Das Doppelte Lottchen" by Erich Kästner, "Blaubart" and "Maria Chapdelaine". Many prominent acting stars stood in front of the camera at that time in Thiersee, such as Hans Albers, Cecile Aubry, Paul Hörbiger, Claude Farrell, Margot Hielscher, Curd Jürgens, Brigitte Horney, Hilde Krahl, Gunter Philipp. Dietmar Schönherr, Oskar Werner, Michele Morgan, Paula Wessely, Francis de Wolf, to name but a few.
This film studio at the lake remains to this day the only one in Tirol.
If you would like to know more about Thierseer’s unique film history, then pay a visit to our current exhibition "Thiersee und das doppelte Lottchen" in the Passion Play House in Vorderthiersee.
There you will get an extensive insight on those times of movie making and can admire technical rarities such as cameras, spotlights, cutting tables and much more and get to know more on rare movie exhibits and many anecdotes of those times.
