Kitzbühel

The town of Kitzbühel set in the middle of the Kitzbühel Alps is one of the most well-known and most important winter sports towns in Austria. But even without snow a trip to the "Gamsstadt" is always worthwhile.

Numerous architectural sights, such as the Katharinenkirche, the evangelical Christuskirche and Berghaus Holzmeister on the local mountain, the Hahnenkamm, are worth a trip. One completely new show-stopper is the newly set-up 3S-Bahn, which connects two mountain slopes which are around 400 metres above the ground, making it one the highest cable-cars in the world.

What would Kitzbühel be without the Hahnenkamm race, which takes place every year in January and also brings in a lot of very well-known guests to the town. Ski areas in and around Kitzbühel invite all guests to go skiing. In summer the region is best suited to mountain biking, hiking, a game of golf, and there is also Austria’s only curling hall and tennis courts. Nearby Lake Schwarzsee invites you to take a dip, while in winter the lake is suitable for ice-skating. The Kitzbühel Horn sits enthroned above the town and the Alpine Road is there is you fancy „climbing“ the Horn, you can also go up via the gondola.
